Dog Food for Sheepadoodles

The Sheepadoodle pairs the shaggy, good-natured Old English Sheepdog with the Poodle. Sheepadoodles are known for being laid-back, playful, and devoted to their families, and for their classic black-and-white teddy-bear look. Standards usually weigh 60 to 80 lb, while minis come in around 25 to 45 lb. Their coats are dense, soft, and plentiful, and they need regular brushing and grooming to stay comfortable.

With that much coat on a big frame, Sheepadoodle owners care about two things above all: skin and coat health, and raising a large puppy the right way.

How much to feed a Sheepadoodle

These are starting points for an average adult with a normal activity level. A thick coat can hide weight gain, so feel for the ribs regularly and adjust portions to keep your dog lean.

Adult weight Cups per day A 28 lb bag lasts about
35 lb (mini) 2¼ 7½ weeks
50 lb 3 5½ weeks
70 lb (standard) 4 4 weeks
80 lb (large standard) 4¼ 4 weeks

Feeding tips for big, deep-chested dogs

Large, deep-chested dogs can be prone to bloat. Many vets recommend splitting food into two or more meals a day and avoiding hard exercise right before and after eating. Puppies need more food per pound than adults, so split their daily amount into three or four meals, and ask your vet to help you track growth.
